Maria Ismini Anastasiadou - Violin

Biography

Born in 1998 in Athens Greece, Maria started her violin education in “Protoporia Conservatory” at the age of eight in the class of Vladislav Halapsis.

She has been a prize winner in various international competitions, became a fellow at the international institution for young musicians ʺVladimir Spivakov” and obtained her Violin Diploma from the Greek Ministry of Culture with a distinction.

From September 2016, she moved to London to begin her undergraduate studies at the “Royal Academy of Music” in the class of Remus Azoitei, with the financial support of the Athena Scholarship and the Ismini Karter Scholarship, from where she graduated with First Class Honors. Throughout these years, Maria has participated in various masterclasses with renowned violinists such as Ivry Gitlis, Jack Liebeck and Josef Spacek. She has also been an active orchestral player and has had the chance to perform under the baton of Semyon Bychkov, Marin Alsop, Edward Gardner and Mark Elder in great venues such as the Royal Albert Hall.

For the upcoming academic year Maria has successfully been accepted, with a full tuition scholarship and the named award of Derek Butler Trust Scholarship as well as a financial support from the Stephen Bell Trust, at the “Guildhall School of Music and Drama” in order to continue her postgraduate studies in violin performance in the class of Levon Chilingirian. She has also been selected from a field of 900 european applicants to attend the Mahler Academy 2020/21 in Bolzano, Italy. From October 2020 she has been a member of Talent Unlimited.

Maria is currently playing on a “Honore Derazey, 1860” violin.
